Biographical Information

Formerly a police officer in Milwaukee for over a decade, Daniel Johnson is now an outstanding educator and role model for his third-grade students at College Park Elementary School in Greendale, Wisconsin. With a winning sense of humor and an emphasis on making learning fun, Johnson offers differentiated, child-centered instruction that allows students to become independent learners, exploring and expressing their individuality in a motivating classroom environment. His multi-level teaching style involves many components at once, including reading and writing, creativity, dialogue, small-group work, online and book-based research, media and arts integration, and hands-on activities. A leader in integrating technology with student-created projects, Johnson uses a wide variety of applications to engage students in everything from producing video projects to self-assessment in writing. Many of his students have made significant gains because of the time he spends with them in and out of class. Johnson serves on the district's technology committee and has served on the district strategic planning and safety committees. He frequently conducts professional development for the district in the use of technology.
