Kathy Horvath Joins Illinois State Hall of Fame

Dr. Kathleen Horvath (IL '92) was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Illinois State University's College of Education in October 2016. "Now in her 37th year of service, she is a leading educational content expert in Illinois," says the school's website. "Her ability to develop and communicate best practices has improved learning outcomes for students in her districts and across the state. She has served as a teacher, state field advisor, director of school improvement, assistant superintendent, and author." Horvath won the Milken Educator Award in 1992 as a teacher at Diekman Elementary School in Dolton, Illinois. She is currently the assistant superintendent at Northbrook School District 28 in Northbrook.

  • Kathy is a special person and a consummate professional. She has dedicated her career to the education of the children in her care for over 30 years. She has supported teachers in providing professional development so they can be their best. This has and will always be her number one priority. She is extremely deserving of this Hall of Fame honor. Wat to go, Dr. Horvath!!
