Biographical Information

"School and community service are concepts in full operation on our campus," says Robert Bruesch, who teaches sixth graders at Willard Elementary School in Rosemead. Mr. Bruesch has designed and implemented a number of programs that focus on the development of an integrated, well-educated and socially responsible community. The writing and vocabulary program he created to address the needs of a multilingual student body includes a "Writer's Handbook," which has become a resource throughout his school district. The Outdoor Education program, designed to increase students' understanding of the environment, includes sixth graders in a four-day camping expedition and has been implemented by a number of other schools in the area. Mr. Bruesch has guided his students through the writing and producing of a very popular anti-gang/pro-community service musical that is aired regularly on local cable television stations and has been performed for hundreds of students throughout the community.
