Biographical Information

Kimberly Moreno began her teaching career in 2009 as an alternate route teacher for Union City Board of Education. In 2012, when the district decided to establish a Career and Technical Education program for the health sciences with Rutgers University, Kimberly was selected to develop the program, giving students the opportunity to earn industry credentials and pursue careers in health care.  In 2013, she became the advisor of HOSA, an international career and technical student organization focusing on health-related careers.  She has also served as a coordinator of Project SEED, a program sponsored by the American Chemical Society, which gives students the opportunity to do state-of- the-art research under the supervision of a scientist. Finally, in her community, she finds time to give back by volunteering as an Emergency Medical Technician.

In 2006, Kimberly Moreno graduated from the honors and health careers programs at Montclair State University where she received her Bachelor of Science in biology. She continued her education and received her Master of Education in special education in 2011 from Grand Canyon University.  Committed to professional development, she continued her studies at William Paterson University where she received her English as a Second Language certificate and her supervision certificate. In 2015, Kimberly Moreno was the New Jersey recipient of the National Milken Educator Award and in January 2017 she was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi – An International Society for Educators. She successfully defended her dissertation for her Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership at the College of St. Elizabeth and graduated in May 2018. 

Kimberly has facilitated and presented at various New Jersey Department of Education Initiatives, including the State Board of Education Meeting (June 2016), the “Building Capacity for Career Pathways Summer Institute” (June 2016), and the “STEM Partnership Summer Institute” (August 2016). Kimberly Moreno served at the NJ Department of Education as the Health Science Career Cluster Lead through the Intergovernmental Loan Program from 2017-2018.

In August 2018, she moved into Educational Leadership, by being selected to be one of the founding administrators of the Passaic Academy for Science and Engineering. She oversaw the Fine Arts, Science, and Physical Education Departments and Career Pathways.

Currently, she is an Assistant Principal at Wayne Valley High School, in Wayne, NJ, where she also serves as the Supervisor of Science, Applied Technology, and Family and Consumer Sciences.
