Sarah Vann (OK '11) Wins PAEMST Award

Sarah Vann (OK '11), a science teacher at Owasso Eighth Grade Center in Owasso, Oklahoma, was one of 108 science and math teachers honored by President Obama with the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Winners receive a $10,000 unrestricted award from the National Science Foundation.
After winning the Milken Educator Award in 2011, Vann served on the Executive Committee for the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Science and took part in her state's OKSci Leadership program. "The Presidential Award signifies growth in my ability to teach students to be great scientific thinkers," Vann says on her bio on the PAEMST website. "It is evident that passion and perseverance will make you a better teacher if you challenge yourself."
